From testing our coastal waters to reducing plastic pollution, Surfrider's programs help ensure that our marine ecosystems are protected.

Beach Cleanups

A Surfrider Foundation program to tackle the ocean litter issue – primarily caused by plastic pollution - through education for action, community science, and campaigns. We are all part of the solution and together we can restore our coastlines, one beach at a time.

Details of all Texas Coastal Bend beach clean up activities will be posted on our Facebook page.

Blue Water Task Force

The Blue Water Task Force (BWTF), is the Surfrider Foundations volunteer-run, water testing, education and advocacy program. Our chapters use this program to alert the public and officials in their communities about water quality problems and to work toward solutions.

The Surfrider Foundation’s Ocean Friendly Restaurants program tackles plastic pollution at its source. One restaurant, one customer at a time, it increases awareness, drives behavior change, and ultimately creates scalable impact to reduce our plastic footprint.

Skip the Plastic

Our “Skip The Plastic” program relates to Surfrider's national Rise Above Plastics program, and is designed to eliminate the impacts of plastics in the marine environment by raising awareness about the dangers of plastic pollution and by advocating for a reduction of single-use plastics and the recycling of all plastics.

                                                                                    Make Promises Happen

Disabled Surf Camp 09-9            

Each summer since 2004, our chapter has hosted a surf camp for the disabled. Campers from a program called “Make Promises Happen”, located near Oklahoma City make the long trip down to Port Aransas to meet up with volunteers from all over the state and to experience the thrill of riding waves. The camp is held on two consecutive afternoons, and when completed it’s hard to tell who had the most fun - the campers or the volunteers. This event has become one of the our chapter's most popular, guaranteed to leave everyone totally stoked.

The event is open to anyone with disabilities.
Volunteers are welcome to participate and surfing experience is not required.                                                                                                                                           

 

Storm Drain Marking Program

TXCBC volunteers help Corpus Christi’s Storm Water Department twice a year to apply medallions on storm drain inlets in selected areas of the city.  We also distribute educational brochures informing homeowners about their role in reducing the negative impacts of urban runoff.
