Hallandale Beach Plastic Straw Ordinance
The goal is to have the City of Hallandale Beach pass and implement a single use plastic straw ordinance which will help keep single use plastic straws from entering our marine environment.
In the summer of 2018, our Broward Chapter proposed a plastic straw ordinance in Hallandale Beach. The reduction of plastic straws helps to decrease the need for fossil fuels, which are used for these wasteful and lightweight single use plastics which often end up as litter in our marine environments. On September 17th, Surfrider claimed Victory in Hallandale Beach! The plastic straw ordinancepassed. It will be enforced beginning January 1, 2019.
