Our upcoming meeting will feature a special presentation from the Center for Water Supply Studies (CWSS) at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi.
For the past three years, CWSS, under the direction of Dr. Dorina Murgulet, has been conducting vital research on bacterial contamination in the groundwater at Surfside, Texas, stemming from septic systems. They'll be sharing their findings from collecting groundwater, porewater, and surface water samples, and discussing how they use PCR-based methods to track species-specific bacterial markers. This important work, initiated by Dr. C. Alan Berkebile in 1991, helps us understand and address water resource issues in the Coastal Bend region.
Also on the Agenda:
- Skip the Plastic: Get the latest updates, including news on Texas legislation concerning plastic pollution.
- Blue Water Task Force: Hear about recent water quality testing results.
- Beach Report: Stay informed on important beach access issues and related Texas legislation.
